It is a bit different in Spain. We started our vacations Aug. 1st, and they run until Aug. 31st. So there is still a mirage of all the work I can get done in this month 🙂
The community-college class I’m taking in the fall starts on Aug 26, overlapping with the university summer-school class I’m taking that ends on Aug 30. (The difference between a semester-schedule school and a quarter-schedule school.)
*crying emoji*
my list from june of “oh, I can easily get this done before the end of summer” is <1/2 done.
my massive push to submit papers before the tenure package was due bit me when all the revision requests came in and screwed up all my plans. Plus the burn-out (and resulting burn-out induced frustration) is real.
Daughter has 2.5 weeks of summer left. Many local schools go back after labor day. This is such fantastic news because the rush to get your kid’s surgery done should slow a bit in September and I might have a *little* more room to breathe.

I feel sooooo burnt out!
Our local public schools started today.
