Trends in astronomy right now are running at about 12% acceptance rate, so the last slide tends to be more shock and joy than acceptance.
I sat on a panel a few weeks ago. Our group read 11 proposals, of which 1 or possibly 2 would be funded. We really liked 4 of the proposals and considered all but 2 of them as solid and fundable. The program officer said the amount of money was the same as last year but the amount requested had increased by 68%. Sigh.
